baum x Hand Crafted Bicycles

The bespoke world of personalisation. For people who don't operate on a budget.  First and foremost they are engineers and designers — craftsmen. The Baum aesthetic isn’t cute or whimsical. It draws on the heritage
of racing and hard riding, and is inspired by the uncompromising World of Motorsport and aeronautics. It shouldn't surprise you then their bikes incorporate these same ideas, their exteriors masked, painted and finished with the same precision and care that goes into their engineering and fabrication.
Welcome to the bespoke World of baum.

baum HAND CRAFTED BICYCLES

Now for the description.

All their bicycles are masked with paint which comes from automotive paint specialists, PPG. Wet application and baking are both done in house, with the masking and lay-up done by eye and two very steady hands. All bands, stripes and pinstripes are done in paint rather than by decal because as they put “we’re fussy about little details.”

Of course such artistic precision is applied to nude titanium (and quality stainless steel) frames. As with everything else, they do their own ball-burnishing and sand blasting in house at their Geelong factory.

PAINT SCHEMES FOR ROAD AND TRACK

They offer four basic schemes for their road bikes: traditional double bands, a traditional three-quarter scheme, and on their titanium models (or Ristrettos with oversized tubes), the option of the muscular GT range of schemes. They understand that colour selection is personal and can help you make a selection with confidence.

Titanium Model
Mountain Range

Their mountain bike schemes are consistent across the model-range, featuring the same Motorsport-inspired typography as the GT-R road bikes, straight-cut bands and model designations on the underside of the down-tube.

TOURING
In keeping with tourer’s natural bias toward utility, they prepare touring bikes in beautiful, solid colours or nude titanium with the traditional Baum logotype and model designation.

BESPOKE PAINTWORK
The bespoke experience. Personal preference and special requests can be accommodated at an extra cost. If you’ve been having recurring dreams about something specific they’re open to making your dreams a reality.
If you’re unsure about colour or how to articulate the direction of your personalised paint job they can develop a scheme by working from a favourite object, graphic or motif. The examples shown below are all bespoke finishes developed for customers based on such a brief.

Unlike many custom builders, they don’t allow free reign when it comes to paint customisation. Its understandable, their brand it built upon the importance of the aesthetic. Whilst a bicycle most definitely says something about the rider, it also speaks about the brand.

Like a good tailor they’ll devise a paint scheme, colour selection and component kit that will make you and your bike look great.

So if you'd like your very own bespoke baum bicycle, prices start from £2250.00 and can be acquired from Prestige cycles
