Theres Only One Mark Cavendish. Sports Personality of The Year

I think everybody expected this to be the outcome, however its still extremely satisfying to witness it happen. Congratulations to Mark for an amazing year and giving us British cycling fans something to cheer about. Just to remind us all lets all step back and remind ourselves how he got to sports personality of the year.

First British winner of the Tour de France green jersey. First British male for 46 years to win the World road race. Pretty epic! 

A worthy champion and a great ambassador for the sport of cycling. 

His landslide victory (49.7% of the public vote) demonstrates how widely received cycling has become in recent years and long may it continue.  

July: Mark Cavendish won on the Champs Elysees for the third successive year to become the first Briton to win the Tour de France green jersey competition.

December: Mark Cavendish wins 2011 Sports Personality of the Year 

Considering we're in a non-Olympic year his achievement is enormous not only for Mark but for the sport of cycling. Mark put it perfectly, such an achievement is "unheard of".  

Bring on 2012. I think I can finally say cycling is going mainstream!
