Bicycle Design: Vorwaertz x 3D Printed Lugs




Lugs are my favourite part of a bike. If I were more of a bike geek I’d build my own bike. Unfortunately I'm not very D.I.Y, however the guys over at Vorwaertz are. 3D printed bicycle lugs on a carbon fibre frame. Another great example of how contemporary fabrications allows for mass customisation.

Bio on the process
VRZ 1. is a track bike frame with 3D printed stainless steel lugs, glued together with carbon fiber tubes.

This method allows to build custom frames in a short period of time. This process enables designer to change the geometry to what ever they like, then the lugs get generated by software. Once completed you just need to print the parts, finish them and glue the frame together.

The fork is 480g and the frame weight is 1100g (for stainless-Carbon Frame).
