WE LIKE: Bike Services & Package Introduced by The Crowne Plaza London- The City

Theres nothing we at Bicycle Basecamp like more than hearing of an organisation integrating our first love into their day to day business endeavours. My "new" favourite hotel The Crowne Plaza London have recognised cycling's increased popularity in the capital and have decided to accommodate the growing number of guests who desire the use of a bicycle when doing business in London. Today they announced the launch of their new bicycle valet and repair service for hotel guests. For guests who arrive without a bicycle no need to fear, they're also offering a residential package complete with bike hire.

I know what you're thinking. Bicycle valet....repair service....residential package including bicycle hire...where do I sign up!! I can see it now, pulling up upon my vintage Peugeot racer, jumping of the saddle and handing my lock and key to the valet attendant. Life doesn't get any better than this! Read more after the jump.

Being a four star establishment guests who chose to arrive at the hotel by bicycle are greeted by avid cyclist and hotel concierge Jay Lemos, and his team. They're on-hand to complimentary valet park the guest’s bike at the hotel, until it is needed. And should any repairs, or cleaning be required, the team is happy to provide a service addressing such requests (at a fee).

Furthermore, for out-of-town visitors, a bike package is available, priced from £182 per room (based on double occupancy) and includes the following heavenly perks:
• Cycle Hire
• Bike Map and Helmet
• Concierge valet cycle parking
• Luxury accommodation in a newly renovated guestroom
• Full-English Breakfast

The surge in cycling shows no signs of abating, four years ago cars outnumbered bikes by two to one; however, in parts of the City of London bikes are now outnumbering cars. And with the Olympics just around the corner and many would-be cyclists inspired by Tour de France and BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner, Mark Cavendish, 2012 is set to be an exciting year for cycling.

Commenting, Gaurav Rai, Hotel Manager, said, “Located in the City means we are seeing more and more cyclists in the area, the Superhighway route runs right past our doorstep and suited and booted cyclists are a common sight! To accommodate our guests’ needs is imperative if we are to maintain the hotel’s first-class offering. Whilst this may be seen as a gimmick, it doesn’t hide the fact that the bike is a more common sight on London’s roads and we need to embrace that.”

If like me you're already planning your trip, I'll see you there! If not, I'll be sure to upload my holiday pics, not much of holiday however considering the hotel is two miles down the road.

Regardless already have the bike oiled up and ready to make its arrival!haha
